Message for the Week of September 3, 2018

THIS WEEK at Meridian Park

Tuesday, September 4 – First day of school for Kindergarteners, Tea & Tissues

After students enter classrooms, the Meridian Park PTSA and Derek Dalasta, Kindergarten Administrator, would like to invite all parents, grandparents, and/or guardians to meet outside the main entrance of the school for a community gathering to celebrate your child(ren)’s first day of school! We will have tea to drink, tissues to wipe away any tears of joy, time to get to know each other, and a short message to join our community together and celebrate the start of the school year.

Morning: Bus arrival at 8:55 am; Tea & Tissues from 9:15 am – 9:35 am

Afternoon: Bus arrival at 12:40 pm; Tea & Tissues from 1:00 pm – 1:20 pm

Friday, September 7 – Welcome Back Assembly, 9:30 – 10:00 am

All adults are invited to our annual welcome back assembly featuring introductions, spirit, staff speaker, and slide show.

SAVE THE DATE & SHARE YOUR BAGS: Our volunteer-led Art Docent team is now recruiting for new & returning parent/caregiver volunteers to support quarterly art projects in your child(ren)’s classroom during school hours. Training & supplies provided! Please SAVE either Sept. 18th, 9:15 am or Sept 19th, 7pm to join our Orientation Training, or email whitneyhardie@gmail.com if you are interested, but cannot attend.

Also, we are looking for any Paper Grocery Bag Donations families can bring to Curriculum night (9/12) and drop in the school foyer. We will be transforming them into year-long student art portfolios. Questions? Contact co-leads Whitney Hardie (above) &/or Tauryn Beeman, t.travels@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Meridian Park PTSA Membership Drive: Welcome back! Whether you are renewing or considering membership for the first time, joining the PTSA is a sign of support for the tireless efforts to provide opportunities for students, foster a sense of community within our school, and partner with school staff to create a positive climate! Joining also gives you the opportunity to lend your voice to an organization that advocates for all children at the local, state, and national level. Becoming a member does not obligate you to huge time commitments or to planning class functions; it does show your commitment to Meridian Park Elementary! Look for a membership envelope in your student’s welcome packet or join online at https://www.pt-avenue.com/shopGP.asp?sc=MerParkPTA. Any questions? Contact mpptsapresident@gmail.com .
