Calling all K-6 Cheetahs! The Yearbook Club would like your design ideas for the 2016-17 yearbook cover! This year’s yearbook theme is, “Keep Calm and Cheetah On.”

If you’d like a chance for your artwork/design to be featured on the cover, submit it (scanned or photo) to moogie1221@gmail.com by THURSDAY, MARCH 2nd. Please include: Student Name, Grade/Teacher, and Contact Info (Email and Phone Number).

NOTE: All submitted artwork must be original ideas and created entirely by the student.
After we receive all submissions, the Yearbook Club will review your artwork and make a decision based on: Interpretation of the theme, Technical skill, and Origi.

Culture Share: NEPAL!

There will be Nepalese music, dancing, and food for kids, families, and all to enjoy! Come meet your neighbors and learn about different cultures. Saturday, March 4th will focus on Nepal, in partnership withYouth for Culture Promotion, a cultural arts organization led by Shoreline resident Subhash Prajapati. The City of Shoreline is committed to ensuring a welcoming and safe community for all.

Evening Program:
6:00pm – Community Potluck, including Nepalese dishes
6:45pm – Nepal Information Slideshow: Learn about Nepal’s history, country, and culture
7:00pm – Nepalese Musical Performance & Drumming lesson
7:45pm – Nepalese Dance lesson & Audience Participation
8:30pm – Close

MP School Play “Tall Tales”
March 3rd and 4th – MP Drama Club performance of Tall Tales. Performance is at Shorewood HS Performing Arts Center at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $8/adult and $5/students. Flyers went home in kid mail if you want to buy pre-sale tickets. All proceeds help cover drama club expenses. Great family fun for all ages!

Support the 6th Grade Camp Donation Effort!
~To bring the cost of camp down for all, raising funds for your 6th grade community~

Our goal is to bring the overall cost down for all campers from $175 to $150, by raising $2,500 by March 10.
1. Go to Shoreline School District Website.
2. Click on “On-Line Payments”
3. Enter your skyward user id and password
4. Click on your Meridian Park student
5. Click on Items at student’s school
6. Click on donations
7. Enter your donation at “Donations to Help Defray the Cost of Camp”

Do you read the Cheetah Chatter, the monthly newsletter for Meridian Park put out by the school and PTSA? Tall Tales School Play
MP PTSA Drama Club’s performance of “Tall Tales” is March 3rd & 4th @ 7 pm, Shorewood High School Theater. Watch for pre-sale ticket information in Kid Mail. Tickets are $8/Adult and $5/student. This is a great family friendly show!

Community Dinner and Lecture
Edmonds Lutheran Church is hosting a dinner and lecture “Islam, Christianity, and Friendship” in partnership with the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS).

MP Read-a-thon Coming Soon!
The 2017 Read-a-Thon (RAT) is coming up! It will begin on Monday, February 27th and end on Sunday, March 19th. RAT is a fun opportunity to read, read, read — for students and families alike! It is also an important fundraiser for PTSA, with funds raised supporting a variety of student activities and academic resources. Materials will come home with your student(s) next week explaining how to participate, collect pledges, and even earn prizes. GREEN TEAM PARENTS – Volunteer Request

The first Full week of every month we need 1-2 parents for lunch 11:30-1:15 (M-F). Sign up to participate on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday once a month. Job includes: reminding and training kids on what trash goes in each bin. Encouraging and Voting on the Green Team Superstar of the Month. Shoreline Math OIympiad

Try something new: Enter a math contest! Shoreline Math Olympiad is open to all Meridian Park students in grades 4-6, whether they are in Math Club or not. Deadline to sign up: February 3, 2017. The contest is Saturday March 11 at the Shoreline Community College. Find permission slip link and more info at http://www.mpmathclub.com/smo

There is no cost to enter. Any 4th-6th grade student can compete at this FUN, engaging event where hundreds of Shoreline students will participate in individual and team rounds. Snacks, pizza, and entertainment will also be provided. If your student enjoys this contest, they can join PTSA’s math club next year and enjoy even more math contests!

Please note that Math Club cannot take new members mid-year — but we still want MP students to participate and we can provide practice materials for your kids. Students are encouraged to form their own teams of 4 participants with a chaperone, though being on a team is not a requirement for participating in individual rounds.

Meridian Park PTSA BOD endorsed the bond and is very excited and pleased with shoreline school district’s plan for the two new middle schools and children’s center. It is great to be part of a forward looming community planning for a bright future.

Meridian Park Winter Clothes Drive January 25- February 17:

Our student council is sponsoring a winter clothes drive in support of Mary’s Place. Please send new or gently used items to your student’s classroom or drop them off in the main lobby. Items include: coats, hats, scarves, leggings, sweaters, long underwear, and 8 hour pocket handwarmers. Thanks for your support!

Second semester starts Tuesday and we are so proud of the good work your students are doing. Special thanks to our dedicated, hard working staff in providing the best academic and social experience possible. Please watch for your ballot and mail it by February 14.
