Forget to pre-order your yearbook? No worries! Keep Calm and . . . still get one for $20.00. Available during the last week of school – be on the lookout in the lobby or (weather permitting) outside the front entrance, before/after school from June 21st-23rd.

Yearbook Volunteers Needed for Next Year!

We are looking for parent volunteers to help out with the 2017-2018 MP Yearbook. We need lots of parent volunteers to take photos in class rooms, at field trips, and events. Just take photos at the events you are already at and email them to us. We also will need help “tagging” the photos. If you are interested in helping out email us at moogie1221@gmail.com

Hi Cap Summer Meetup at Paramount ParkJuly 22

For all families in the Shoreline Highly Capable program: if you would like to meet and connect with other Hi Cap families this summer, join us on Saturday, July 22, at Paramount Park (NE 155th and 8th Ave NE) from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Bring your kids to the park for some sunshine and outdoor time, and look for us in bright green t-shirts near the balloons. We hope to see you!

Shoreline Area Library Programs – One of the events includes: U.S. Naturalization workshop will be offered on at the Shoreline Library. Tuesday, June 20th at 7pm-8:30pm

Shoreline-LFP Arts FestivalSaturday,June 24th, 10am – 6pm and Sunday, June 25th, 10am – 5pm, Shoreline Center, 18560 1st Ave. NE. Free event featuring art exhibits, hands-on art, Cultural rooms (Featuring Korea, Phillipines, Chinese, African, and Latino cultures), and live music and dance.

Lost and Found

Are you missing any clothing or jackets? Our Lost and Found is quite full so take a moment to check if anything may belong to you. The Lost and Found items will be cleared out on Friday, June 16th.

6th Grade Moving On Picnic

All the 6th graders and their families are invited to attend the Moving On Picnic onJune 22 at Cromwell Park from 12:00 – 3:00 pm after the Ceremony. We’d like to ask for a variety of items (hot dogs, chips, drinks, fruit, etc). Food can be dropped off under the gazebo at the park OR you can drop off food at the school lunchroom the morning of the 22nd. Seeking Roots of Empathy Instructors

Seeking experienced volunteers to undertake an exciting opportunity as a Roots of Empathy Instructor. Roots of Empathy is an evidence-based program that has shown significant effect in reducing levels of aggression, including bullying, among school children while raising social and emotional competence and increasing empathy – the ability to understand how another person feels. Instructors deliver all aspects of the Roots of Empathy curriculum in the classroom.

Becoming a Roots of Empathy Instructor: Instructors attend an intensive 4-day training before working in the classroom. The program is delivered by the Instructor over the course of 27 classroom visits throughout the school year. With the help of a community parent and baby, Instructors guide students in identifying and reflecting on their own feelings and the feelings of others. All candidates are encouraged to apply, however experience in child or infant development, parenting education, community development or teaching children in a classroom setting is an asset.

Shoreline School District to Host Free Summer Feeding Programs for Kids

With summer right around the corner, it is time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. Shoreline School District will provide free meals to children. This summer, meals will be served at Meridian Park Elementary School and Shorecrest High School. Monday – Friday (July 10th – August 4th).

Meridian Park Elementary School: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 Noon

Shorecrest High School: 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 Noon

There are no income requirements or registration. Anyone aged 18 or younger may come to eat! For more information, contact the Food and Nutrition Services Office at (206) 393-4209.

Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Shoreline School District to provide free meals to children when school is out for the summer. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Save the Date! August 26th Back to School Event

WHAT IS THE BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT?

The Back to School event is a community effort that provides school supplies, hair cuts, and clothing assistance for families in the Shoreline School District who are living with a low income and/or experiencing circumstances in their life that make it challenging to prepare their children for going back to school in the fall.

The event takes place August 26th at Ridgecrest Elementary School from 12:30 – 4:00. Families can register using multiple options.
