This year’s Read-a-Thon (RaT) is ON! Designs for the t-shirt and bookmark contest are due on Tuesday. All reading counts through 3/24, so read to each other, curl up with a book in a favorite spot, host a Read-In with some friends. Prizes are available for individual and classroom achievements. RaT information packets went home in student mail, are available in the school lobby, and are online HERE. Read On!

Join us in the cafeteria on Tuesday, from 6:00-7:30 PM, for Bilingual Family Arts & Crafts Night. There will be free popcorn, a potluck dinner, and arts & crafts from around the world — origami, water colors, and more! Flyer attached.

Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Join us on Tuesday at 6:30 PM at Highland Terrace Elementary, as the MP and Highland Terrace PTA’s sponsor a viewing and discussion of the award-winning documentary Screenagers. More information on the film is available HERE.

Stop the Bleed, Save a Life! MP PTSA is presenting free training to MP parents and caretakers on Thursday, March 14th, from 6:30-8:00 PM. This free 1.5 hour course teaches basic life-saving medical interventions, including a brief Active Shooter preparedness presentation and methods to control bleeding. If you are interested in signing up for this event, please contact April Ingle at stopthebleed.shoreline@gmail.com.

Future Events and Volunteer Opportunities

Save the date: join us on Thursday, March 21st for Meridian Park’s K-2 Family Engineering Night, from 6:00-7:30 PM. The event features hands-on activities that promote the engineering process, scientific thinking, and an opportunity to learn and play as a family. A similar event designed for students in grades 3-6 will be offered later in the Spring.

It’s a PARTY! Our school’s 25th Anniversary Party is coming up on April 18th, and what’s a party without food? We love supporting our Cheetah-owned businesses, so we want to partner with you and your restaurant to provide small bites for the event. Nothing goes with birthday cake better than your specialty! If interested, call Naomi at 206-355-7365 or email at: naomihillyard@gmail.com

The Spring Auction needs you! The MP Spring Auction committee is actively seeking auction items for this event on April 18th. If you have something to donate or would like to help procure items, contact: jacquelinhiggins@gmail.com.

The yearbook staff is looking for your photos. Have you captured a sharable moment on your phone or camera from an MP event, field trip, or day-to-day classroom interaction? You can email it directly to: mpptsayearbook@gmail.com. The photo submission deadline is April 15th for our 2018-2019 yearbook.

Rescheduled guest speaker event:  Austina De Bonte of the Northwest Gifted Child Association will present “What Parents and Educators Need to Know About Smart Kids,” on Wednesday, March 20th, from 6:30-8:30PM in the Shoreline Conference Center Auditorium.  Please reserve your FREE seat in advance thru Eventbrite. “First come, first served” childcare spots for potty-trained children can be reserved by emailing shoreline.hicap.advocacy@gmail.com. Include your name, number of child(ren), their names & ages.

It’s never too late to show some love for our Meridian Park PTSA.  Consider becoming a member, if you haven’t already, or making a donation to support all of our families getting the most out of being a Cheetah! You can join or donate online any time at https://mpptsa.org/. Envelopes are available in the lobby.

From the Office:  Thank you for a wonderful week of conferences.  Congratulations to our Math team and Lion King Performers on your amazing showings this week.  Thanks Rosemary, Laura, Khai, Vien, and teams for super successful events. Everyone is invited to our Bilingual Family Night featuring arts and crafts this Tuesday at 6 pm. We hope our K-1-2 families will save the date for Science Night NEXT week Thursday, March 21. We believe our Cheetahs can do and be anything.  See you soon – David, Derek, and Staff
