Monday – Full ‘Lion King’ Cast Meeting, 3:30-5:30 PM in the cafeteria

Monday – traffic alert – it’s going to be busy out there, so please plan  ahead

Tuesday – MP PTSA Meeting, 6:30 – 8:00PM in the library (see below)

Wednesday – Early Release Day, 1:50 Dismissal

All are welcome to attend the January MP PTSA Meeting on Tuesday in the MP library. Board topics will be discussed beginning at 6:30 PM; General Membership at 7:00 PM. Free, on-site childcare is provided by Dale Turner YMCA! We hope to see you!

K-1-2 Student Store Update: The response to the school store order form for grades K-1-2 was so great that we did not have the inventory to fill and send home all orders before break. Therefore, we are not filling any orders until we can send them all at once. We made an order that will be delivered this week. Orders should be filled and ready to send home soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

It’s time to start thinking about the winter term of before and after school activities. There is Spanish, Mandarin, Art, Hip Hop and more, and it can all be found here at 6Crickets https://bit.ly/2T1Y3CW. As always, if you would like to sign your student up for a PTSA enrichment program, scholarships are available (contact Annie Gage at annie.gage@shorelineschools.org for scholarship info).

Congratulations to all the student artists who submitted pieces to the Reflections Art Program this year!  Everyone is invited to an exhibition showcasing student works on January 10th from 6:30-8pm at the Shoreline Center in the Shoreline Room.

Stop the Bleed, Save a Life! MP PTSA is presenting free training to MP parents and caretakers on January 15th, from 6:30-8:00PM. This free 1.5 hour course teaches basic life-saving medical interventions, including a brief Active Shooter preparedness presentation and methods to control bleeding. If you are interested in signing up for this event, please contact April Ingle at stopthebleed.shoreline@gmail.com.

On January 21st at 10:00AM the MPPTSA is offering a MLK Day of Service opportunity on the school grounds. Come prepared to pull weeds, rake leaves, and clean up the school.  Join us again at 4:00PM for a Neighborhood Potluck. MPPTSA is partnering with the Meridian Park Neighborhood Association to make this event possible. There will be games and fun activities for the whole family!

Join fellow Shoreline families on Friday, January 25, 2019, in Olympia for Gifted Ed Day (GED) festivities.  Learn about the issues that are impacting Hi Cap services across our state, see government at work, meet with legislators, and connect with Hi Cap families from other districts.  This is an excused absence day for Shoreline students who plan to attend.  If you and your student(s) would like to tour the Capitol Building, we have availability in a tour scheduled for 12 noon. This will be on a “first come, first serve” basis.  If interested, please email: shoreline.hicap.advocacy@gmail.com!

The Spring Auction Needs You! Do you own a business? Have a vacation property? Have connections with local businesses? The MP Spring Auction committee is actively seeking auction items. Please let us know if you have something to donate or would like to help procure items for the Family Fun Night and Auction on April 18. Contact: jacquelinhiggins@gmail.com.

From the Office:  Welcome back for another year of greatness at MP in 2019.  We look forward to seeing all Cheetahs on Monday at 9:05 am. Our theme for January is ‘perseverance.’  We are excited for the opening of the Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center on Monday and we remind you that things might be a little busier with traffic on Meridian at the start and end of the day. Thanks for your patience and flexibility with drop-off and pick-up; and also for keeping things moving in the drop off area.  We look forward to seeing you soon.  – MP Staff
