Wednesday, September 26 – SSNPTSA Meeting

The Shoreline Special Needs PTSA supports families district-wide of students on a 504 or IEP plan, or who may benefit from one. You are invited to meet other families from Meridian Park beginning at 6:30 PM, and stay for the general meeting in the Rainier Room of the Shoreline Conference Center.

This Friday – Walk-A-Thon, 2-3 pm, extended recess activity

You’re invited to walk, jog, or volunteer on September 28th as we get some steps and raise funds for classroom field trips and other special activities. Forms are coming home with students, so start getting pledges! This video can be shared with anyone students ask to make a pledge.

Friday, September 29 – “Wonder” Movie Night, 6-8PM

Please join us in the cafeteria our first MPTSA movie night this school year. Bring lawn chairs, pillows, and blankets to get cozy for this heartwarming movie! A parent must attend – no drop-offs; no more than 5 students per parent. Pizza will be sold to benefit 6th grade camp. The ASB Executive Committee and candidates will also introduce themselves to kick off their election campaigns!

Take the regional PTA online survey to help your PTA delegates vote on the TOP 5 issues that are most important to your school when the legislative session opens this year.

Roots of Empathy is entering its 10th year of partnership with elementary schools in Shoreline, helping children discover their shared humanity through a social and emotional literacy curriculum and observation of a baby and parent as baby grows. Can you volunteer and support this program? Training opportunities are available now!  Please reach out to Melissa Soltani at msoltani@rootsofempathy.org if you’re interested. For more information on the effects of this program, check out videos HERE and HERE.

The Cheetah Family Spotlight has a few new faces posted — come check them out!  Kindergarten families, please continue bringing in your family photos to display on the board. Put them up yourself or give them to your teacher to place in the MPPTSA president box (thanks, teachers!). Remember to write your name, grade, and teacher for a prompt return at the end of October.

Spanish at Meridian Park Elementary! Join us every Tuesday and Thursday morning beginning on October 2nd. The Meridian Park PTSA values foreign/heritage language instruction. Learn a new language or support the Spanish that your kid already learns at home. Please email Naomi Hillyard, the parent liaison for Spanish, at naomihillyard@gmail.com with any questions. Click HERE for details on this  and other programs, and to sign up.

From the Office:  We are wrapping up a super September this week with lots of learning and our annual fitness and fundraising Walk on Friday afternoon.  All adults invited to be part of the fun. Thanks to everyone helping out with kindergarten lunch and please consider sharing a bit of your time to help our K’s in the cafeteria 11:15 – 11:45 daily. Thanks also to Jax, Naomi, and so many of you for a fantastic PTA meeting last week!  Wednesday early release is going well and we appreciate your support of our professional learning time. We are 771 Cheetahs strong thanks to all of us working together.  See you soon–MP Admin and Staff
